Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA)

All ecological survey and mitigation details for the site are usually required to be compiled into a single EcIA report, which should provide the Local Planning Authority (LPA) with all the ecological information they need to process a planning application. This will include details from the PEA and any subsequent surveys, along with mitigation proposals for the site. It also serves to provide an overall evaluation of the likely site-specific and cumulative impacts to biodiversity as a result of the proposed development, and other recent and proposed developments in the locality.

EcIAs can therefore be stand-alone documents for any kind of planning application, or can form part of the wider Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for schemes where this is required.
